Medical specialist in Anesthesiology and Resuscitation obtained at the Vall d’Hebron University Hospital, Barcelona. Doctor of Medicine from the University of Zaragoza in 1996. Currently Head of the Anesthesiology and Resuscitation Service at the Bellvitge University Hospital in Barcelona since September 2020.
Master in Health Economics and Medication Management from the Pompeu Fabra University of Barcelona 2004 – 2006.
Member of the Permanent Scientific Committee of the Spanish Society of Anesthesiology, Resuscitation and Pain Therapeutics (SEDAR) since November 2019.
Vice President of the Hemostasis, Transfusion Medicine and Fluid Therapy Section of the Spanish Society of Anesthesiology, Resuscitation and Pain Therapeutics (SEDAR) since November 2020. Member of the same from 2006 to 2019.
Member of the consolidated research group of the Vertebral Column Study Unit (URCV-VHIR) from 1996 to October 2018. Research leader in his specialty in pathologies of the musculoskeletal system and plastic surgery at the Vall d’Hebron Hospital in the last 2 decades until 2016. Principal researcher of the line of prevention and treatment of complications in anesthetic management in spinal deformity surgery at the Vall d’Hebron hospital. As a result of this activity, her research has generated resources and financing in public competitive calls and in the field of private financing. Her national leadership has allowed complex, quality studies to be carried out, which have provided level 1 evidence in important aspects of daily clinical practice.
Areas of expertise
The areas of knowledge where she has developed her most relevant research activity are the perioperative management of complex patients (spinal deformities, large burns and polytrauma) and especially “blood management”. As an expert on the subject, she has been co-author of frequently cited relevant works at the European level and consensus documents and clinical practice guidelines at the state level, among others.
Leader of the Anesthesiology Team collaborating with the Total Facial Transplant carried out at the Vall d’Hebron University Hospital in 2010 and 2015.
Since 2018, Research Member of the Neuroscience Research Group – Perioperative Pathophysiology and Pain of IDIBELL – Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute.
Associate clinical professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the Autonomous University of Barcelona from 2004 to 2014. Associate clinical professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Barcelona from September 2016 to the present.
