Dr. Oscar Godino

Innovation in Neurosurgery

Specialist in cervical, medullary and vertebral surgery and spinal pathologies.

Dr. Oscar Godino - Co-director- BSIDr. Óscar Godino is a neurosurgeon specialising in complex cervical spine surgery and in the treatment of spinal and vertebral tumour pathology. His career has focused on the implementation of minimally invasive techniques and the use of neuro navigation: he is a founding member of the Spanish Society of Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery (SEMISS). His scope of practice has also focused on multidisciplinary pain care.

He is currently an associate at the Neurosurgery Department of the Hospital Universitari de Bellvitge, where he coordinates the Oncological Spine Unit, and is also a member of the Functional Spine Unit and the Multidisciplinary Pain Committee.

She obtained her degree in Medicine in 2002 with honours from the University of Barcelona, and trained abroad during stays at the Hospital La Charité in Berlin and the Schön-Klinik in Munich (Germany); and at the University of California in San Francisco (USA). In addition, he completed his training with advanced courses in highly complex surgery given by Eurospine, the European spine medical society, in Strasbourg.

In addition to being a founding member of the Spanish Society of Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery (SEMISS), he is a member of the Spanish Society of Neurosurgery (SENEC); of NeuroRachis at the Spanish Society of Vertebral and Spinal Surgery; and member of the study group of spine diseases of the Spanish Spine Society (GEER). He has also been the Residents’ representative on the National Neurosurgery Commission.

Research and teaching work

Dr. Godino is the author of numerous scientific publications, articles and book chapters in his speciality. He also gives lectures and courses in his field of specialisation in Spain and abroad.

He has also maintained a teaching activity throughout his career associated with the University of Barcelona and for more than ten years he has been the MIR Teaching Tutor in Neurosurgery at the Hospital Universitari de Bellvitge.
