Barcelona Spine Institute, founded by Dr. Ferran Pellisé at the Quirónsalud Barcelona Hospital, is the only multidisciplinary spine unit of its kind existing in Spain. It is considered a reference medical practice for all pathologies that affect the spine and, in particular, for complex surgery. The center, created in 2017 and today considered international reference in the treatment of scoliosis in children and adults, brings together more than 20 professionals who have developed a unique, quality practice, with a humanistic vision of medicine and with the capacity to generate value for the entire medical community.

Dr. Ferran Pellisé
A specialist in spine surgery, he has more than 25 years of complete dedication to the surgical treatment of these pathologies and, in particular, scoliosis and other conditions that cause changes in the morphology of the trunk, for which he is an international reference. His areas of specialization include: herniated disc, low back pain, brachialgia, sciatica, canal stenosis, degenerative pathology of the spine, spondylolisthesis, vertebral fractures, tumors, metastases, and infections.

Dr. Óscar Godino
Dr. Godino is a neurosurgeon specialized in the spine, and particularly in complex cervical spine surgery and the treatment of spinal and vertebral tumor pathology. His career has focused on the implementation of minimally invasive techniques and the use of neuronavigation. His scope of practice has also focused on multidisciplinary pain care.

Scoliosis and deformity specialists
Scoliosis is an alteration in the shape of the back. It is a curvature that is produced by a rotation of the spine in the three axes of space. In the vast majority of cases it occurs in adolescence, in people without any previous pathology, and the cause is unknown. Surgical treatment requires a personalized approach since it is not possible to provide standardized medicine in the complex situations we treat. But our experience, with current instrumentation, allows corrections close to 80%, which achieve a proven improvement in the quality of life of patients, as well as their self-perception and body image.

Our team comprehensively addresses all spinal ailments and pathologies, whether medical or surgical, from birth to old age. To this end we have the spine surgery unit, physical medicine and rehabilitation, physiotherapy and osteopathy, and psychology and acupuncture. We are 20 health professionals fully and specifically dedicated to the spine and the research and treatment of the different pathologies that affect it, always with a humanistic vision of medicine, and the highest demands in everything we do.
